Capacity building programmes
Empowering individuals, organisations and societies
Capacity building is the process through which individuals, organisations, and societies obtain, strengthen, and maintain the capabilities to set and achieve their own development objectives over time. Universities around the world have an important role in this development, where education and research can contribute to the reduction of poverty.
Over the last 10 years, Lund University has been one of the largest suppliers of International Training Programmes (ITP), financed by Sida (the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency). These programmes are implemented as commissioned training programmes and have the overall goal of supporting agencies, organisations and businesses in developing countries in their efforts to reform and contribute to their development to combat poverty in the long term.
Through these programmes, Lund University Commissioned Education (LUCE) has gained vast and unique knowledge in managing and coordinating advanced capacity building programmes with an interdisciplinary approach and special focus on capacity building and organisational development.
